The proposal was single-handily one of the best days of my life! It all started with a quick stop in Las Vegas while driving from California back to Texas with my sister.

We arrived in Vegas around 3pm and checked into our hotel, The Bellagio. After dropping our bags off in the room, I was forced to hurry outside to watch the fountain show that would be starting shortly. Once we found our viewing spot, I was surprised by not only my sister in-law and nephew, but by Jamie. She told me there was no way I was coming to Vegas without her, and boy was she right! After the shock factor went away and watching the fountain show, we decided to go grab something to eat. Upon walking away, we were quickly stopped by a magician who wanted us to be a part of his trick.

I was super skeptical at first, but went along with it because Jamie was so excited. He first started out by showing us a deck of cards. After shuffling them, he had Jamie pick one randomly.  She chose the two of hearts. He then asked her to write AMY is bold letters on the back side. He then shuffled the card back into the deck and asked me to initial a quarter with Jamie’s initials. After wrapping the quarter in a tissue-paper like quarter, he placed it on top of the shuffled deck.

At this point, I am totally engrossed in this magic trick and completely oblivious to what is actually happening. He pulls out a lighter and lights the paper on fire, where it burns a hole through the deck of cards and stops on the card labeled AMY. I am mind-blown at this point!  From there, he placed the card labeled AMY in Jamie’s hand with the quarter on top. He states he has one last trick. He takes 2 cards and waves them over the quarter and magically the engagement ring appears!! I turn the card over, and it reads, “Will You Marry Me?”

I am completely blown away at the entire trick I can’t stop smiling. After saying YES, both my mom and Jamie’s mom pop out from behind a tree to surprise me as well. Not only did she pull off the best surprise of my life, she had our family there to see it as well. 

I will never forget this day. EVER!
