We spent a few days in Baltimore looking at options and have decided that the Inn at the Black Olive would best fulfill our requirements. Our main requirement was, a convent location, with up –scale accommodations for under $180 per night. We found this small family owned and operated boutique style “Green” Hotel called the Inn at the Black Olive http://www.theblackolive.com/Inn/. The normal rate for this time of year is roughly $250 per night and can be as high as $480 a night. This small Inn has only 12 units, so we were able to get a great rate since we are essentially booking the entire Inn for the night. At nearly full occupancy, the owner was able to give us an average rate of $169 per night per suite which is an amazing deal for what this Inn has to offer. The Inn at the Black Olive is also ideally located at 803 South Caroline Street, Baltimore, MD 21231 • p: 443.681.6316 on the boarder of Fells Point and Harbor east along Baltimore's historic waterfront, within walking distance to the convention center, sporting arenas, and the Inner Harbor. Additional, a Google maps search shows the hotel to be 3.4 miles and 14 min from the south locust point cruise terminal where the MS Grandeur of the Sea will be docked. Although being all organic was not one of our requirements, this hotel also met all our requirements and exceeded our expectations. Frankly, we were blown away by the beautiful Mediterranean style suites (all rooms are suites). The Inn at the Black Olive is Baltimore's Premier Boutique Organic Hotel. From the building materials to the room service meals, Organic materials and ingredients are the focus. Each Room includes: Cozy Pure Certified Bed, organic bedding, and organic towels, Balconies with a view of Baltimore’s beautiful inner harbor, 800-1000 Square foot rooms with separate dining/living area, bedroom and large spa type en-suite bathrooms, Sony Google Internet LED Television with Netflix and satellite, Complimentary WIFI and wired broadband. Each Spa en-suite has a Sanijet Aqua-therapy tub and a separate walk in shower. The Spiliadis family originated from Grease and Constantinople (modernly known as Istanbul). Dimitris Spiliadis is the owner and leading operator of the Inn at the Black Olive. One of Baltimore’s best Restaurants, the Black Olive is owned and operated by Dimities’ father, and his mother is also the owner and Executive Chef. Dimitris Spiliadis has done well to echo the feel of the Black Olive with its old world charm, eye for detail and excellent service. Dimitris successfully managing to merge all this with his own desire to offer an ecologically responsible, healthy and organic Inn that still manages to maintain all modern convenience. This is certainly not a “cookie cutter chain hotel”. In contrast, this Inn echoes the feel of home and family and I hope will be a pleasurable experience for all our friends and family.
Transportation Arrangement’s: We have made arrangements with US Coachways to provide us with a 47 passenger Charter bus to transport everyone from the Inn at the Black Olive (Hotel) to the Cruise Terminal. So even if you are not spending the night before our wedding in Baltimore, I still recommend that you meet up with us all at the Hotel. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage attached to the Inn (Hotel). I believe parking is $8.00. Be sure to bring a credit card as the machine that lets you leave the parking structure only takes credit cards and often there is not an attendant around. The bus will depart the Inn at 0930 so come early. When you get to the Inn let the concierge at the front desk know you are attending the McDaniels Bui Wedding and they will make sure you are directed to the correct area. The plan is to arrive together at the terminal so as to insure that we all meet up with the wedding coordinators who will be able to insure a smooth boarding.
