So, my story of how I met my future husband began a couple of years ago, during my decision to change majors in college from biomedical engineering to biology in hopes of going to nursing school, rather than grad school. I was looking for experience in the healthcare field, as well as a way to boost my resume for nursing school, so I decided on taking the EMT course (which in of itself was a task...taking 27 college credits in one semester was not the smartest idea...). I began the EMT course in January of 2011, and in April 2011 I interviewed at Perinton Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The interview went well (thank you Jaimie!) and I was accepted. I officially started riding on the ambulance sometime after, I think in May, after I was done with my classes at UofR for the semester. It was pretty fun, but I do remember the first day I met Sean. I was riding with Jaimie, and we were waiting for her parter to show up. Sean was supposed to be there at 0700, but he didn't show up until about 0730...I guess somebody decided to sleep in. I was in the ambulance, working on a rig check, when he came to the back of the ambulance and started chatting with us. I thought he was really cute, in his EMT uniform and PVAC baseball hat (I thought he had the most adorable smile).

But...I had a boyfriend at the time, so I forced myself not to think about it. As time went by, and I got to work with Sean more (I may or may not have signed up for shifts purposefully throughout the summer...because I knew he was working...I remember one time he commented on the fact it seemed like I was working with him a lot, but I covered it up by saying that it just seems out schedules work together!) As time passed, I realized something had to change. I broke up with my ex-boyfriend, and I began chatting with Sean to ask him "more questions about EMT stuff"...not that I was looking for an excuse to talk with him more or anything... And then I remember one fb chat that he gave me his number, just in case I had any more questions (that sly boy!), so of course I used this only for the sole purpose of work-related questions. Then, at some point, Sean said how much he wanted to do the Maize Maze, so I told him he should do it then, and he replied that he didn't have anyone to go with (he was putting me to a test apparently), so I decided to be bold and go out on a limb (something that was totally new for me) and I said that I would go with him! And surprisingly, that was okay with him. We figured out that the only time we could go was like 3 weeks from then, so we eventually decided to hang out before then.

Our First Date:

October 11, 2011 was one of the best days of my life. We had decided that we would go for a hike that day. I was so anxious, I kept texting Tess about what to wear (hike's are difficult dates to dress for! balancing cute and practical is very difficult I found out). And thennnn Sean pushed the time back that he would pick me up because he was caught up helping his dad (although I was thankful for this extra time to get ready). For some reason I was in disbelief that I was actually going on a date with him....I figured maybe he wouldn't pick me up or something, or he wouldn't like me outside of work. I also have expected him to show up in his EMT uniform, I hadn't seen him wear normal clothes ever! But he did pick me up, sometime early afternoon, and it was amazing. We went to Indian Hill Park (little did I know we would be back there on Nov. 30, 2012...but that he would give me a ring then!) and we hiked forever. I kept trying to figure out different loops we could do, so that we wouldn't have to leave. I remember us playing the question game, where we would just ask eachother random questions. And the weather was so perfect, it was sunny and warm and absolutely beautiful. Eventually it was time to go back to the car, and I was bummed because I thought it meant it was time to go home.

But then Sean suggested going somewhere else. We ended up going to Powdermill Park and hiking even more, then going to a little cafe by the canal for dinner (I ate rather fast and messily...I was starving...sorry Sean =P). And thennn we ended up going for another walk on the canal. I borrowed Sean's sweatshirt, it smelled so good =). We sat on a bench by the canal after it got dark, and I remember how crazy the butterflies in my stomach that Sean gave me were. And I still get butterflies while I'm around him! The evening ended way too soon, and I was so happy that that date was the first...of a lifetime.
