We got engaged 5 years ago...I know I know.  But well long engagements are good!  It was under the Christmas Tree in 2008 in our house.  It was sweet!

He was so excited and nervous, he reached over my shoulder from behind me and handed me the box and asked me.  I said yes, but told him he had to be very patient, it may be a long engagement.  He said he didn't care if it took 20 years, he would be happy to wait.

Done deal.

I was happy being engaged until he went to Europe and left me here, and all of a sudden I was "ready" and told him I wanted to make good on that promise, and here we are.
